We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Ene rgetic Manufacturing Engineer to join our Process Engineering team in our Promontory, UT offices . This job requires technical / manufacturing oversight, investigative problem resolution, data analysis, and presentation skills to leadership and external customers. Position requires supporting cross function matrixed investigation teams with emphasis on root cause analysis, process failure modes and effect analysis (PFMEA). Work instruction development and ownership. Dual Process and Design Engineering MRB responsibilities (post DCR) may be a consideration.

Job Description

This Process Engineering position will work with a team of engineers to oversee all aspects of Ammonium Perchlorate (AP) production including: AP synthesis, crystallization, drying, and blending. The selected engineer will have a wide variety of roles including: developing and refining new AP processes, overseeing day-to-day activities, communicating current operating methods and production goals with operations, establishing standard operating procedures, processing OSCRs for process changes, and working with other functional groups (facilities, program, operations, etc.) to ensure AP demands are met. The engineer's primary focus is to ensure a safe, effective manufacturing process that meets the customer demands.

Responsibilities include:

  • The safety of operations personnel as well as the process. Ensures the plant/process is compliant with all internal and external safety and environmental requirements.

  • Prepares, reviews approves and interprets drawings, specifications and work instructions associated with the plant/process in conjunction with the team.

  • Conducts project team meeting and assigns actions as appropriate and follows up on actions to completion.

  • Developing and improving manufacturing processes

  • Performing cause and corrective action activities to permanently eliminate defects

  • Perform SPC analysis to ensure a consistent product is produced

  • Work with concurrent engineering team to create Build-to-Packages (i.e. engineering and planning documents)

  • Prepare and present technical presentations to the program

Education/Certifications/Experience

  • BS/MS Chemical Engineering

  • 5 years engineering experience with BS

  • 3 years engineering experience with MS

Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience chemical manufacturing processes

  • Good problem-solving skills

  • Good communication and writing skills

  • Good organization and multi-tasking skills

  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing Techniques
