Northrop Grumman Principal Manufacturing Engineer in Clearfield, Utah

NGIS is currently looking for a Principle Manufacturing Engineer (T3) to work in our Clearfield, UT location .
This position is within the Automated Fiber Placement (AFP) Engineering group and supports all Aerospace Structures Division (ASD) AFP and Automated Tape Laying (ATL) equipment and reports into the Technology Development group.
This role will focus on supporting Customer Funded Research and Development (CRAD) as well as Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects.
The candidate that fills this role will be assigned Principal Investigator (PI) roles on CRAD and IRAD programs.
As a PI, the candidate will interface with both internal and external customers as the technical lead for the projects and oversee planning, execution, and reporting of the projects.
This role will also work closely with manufacturing personnel and operations to solve production issues with AFP and ATL equipment and processes.
The role will primarily be located in Clearfield, UT, however there is also equipment and projects to support in the Iuka, MS facility that will require travel and remote support as needed.
As a member of this team, the candidate will also continue to develop and refine data analytics and automated reports that provide real time operational awareness, identify issues and enable continuous improvement.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
Knowledge of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
Functional knowledge of Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
Functional knowledge of production control systems at NGIS
Functional knowledge of Design of Experiments (DoE)
Experience with Automated Fiber Placement Equipment and Processes
Experience authoring, modifying and presenting technical papers and presentations
Experience estimating, planning, and streamlining manufacturing processes
Experience in working with aerospace specifications and requirements
Experience using SPC to monitor and improve processes
Experience programming with Visual Basic, C#, Python, etc
Experience developing, accessing and querying databases

Requirements & Qualifications:
Bachelors or Master's degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Materials Science
Experience; target 5 years of Applicable Process/Manufacturing/Design Engineering experience with Bachelor's degree, 3 years with a Masters degree.
Demonstrated technical problem-solving skills, strong oral, and written communications skills
Demonstrated organization and multitasking skills
Desire to work in a manufacturing environment
Responsibilities include mentoring earlier career process engineers
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work with minimal direction in a changing environment
Ability to obtain a security clearance
