Malouf Apparel Product Developer – Women’s Contemporary in Logan, Utah
Malouf is seeking a talented and driven Apparel Product Developer ? Women?s Contemporary, to join our design team at Downeast Apparel, our recently acquired partner company.
Responsibilities and Qualifications
5+ years? experience in women's apparel product development, specific to women?s contemporary apparel; experience in sustainable materials cost is a bonus
Bachelor?s Degree in Textile Science, Textile Design and/or Textile Development preferred
Expert understanding of raw material process and ability to research raw material according to trend direction and to support business strategies and outlined seasonal expectations
Technical knowledge in area of raw material and garment trim specialization as it relates to raw material qualities, construction, content, weaving/knitting, dyeing, printing, finishing, and washing techniques including raw material capabilities and limitations
Utilize technical expertise to translate the design intent of fabric and yarn to meet raw material cost parameters
Develop recommendations for our products prior to each seasonal design kickoff working closely with Design throughout pre-development process
Partner with mills and suppliers to anticipate and co-create new ideas
Manage raw material process to achieve cost and responsive supply chain goals
Create and monitor R&D calendar to ensure all development dates are met
Oversee fabric approvals with Design and compliance for color, hand feel, wash etc.
Take ownership of organizing and maintaining fabric and trim resource library
Must be a team player with strong communication, organization, time management, and problem-solving skills
High level of proficiency with PLM Software
Experience with Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop is a plus
Ability to travel ? less than 10% expected
