Overview: The Product Development Lead works in all aspects of new and improved dietary supplement product development. Creates, maintains, and reviews product documentation including Request for Quote formulas, Unit Dose Specifications, Change Orders and Product Labels as assigned. Creates new and improved processes and operating procedures. Works with a variety of solid dose forms. Operates all solid dose development, testing, and production equipment. Carries out bench and scale up pilots. Interacts with customers in person and in writing. Manages personal project schedule and prepares regular reports of assigned tasks. Main Duties & Responsibilities
Works in all aspects of new and improved dietary supplement solid dose product development
Generates, maintains, and reviews product documentation including Request for Quote formulas, Unit Dose specifications, Change Orders, and Label copy as assigned
Creates new and improved processes and operating procedures
Works with a variety of solid dose forms including tablet cores, capsules, and powders, flavored, coated, and chewable tablets
Operates all solid dose development, testing, and production equipment with minimal supervision
Carries out bench and scale up pilots
Interacts with customers in person and in writing
Manages personal project schedule and prepares regular progress reports of assigned tasks
Keeps a current laboratory notebook of all projects
Maintains a clean, safe laboratory environment
Performs other duties as assigned
4 year College/University degree preferred and 1-3 years’ experience or 6-8 years research and development experience preferred
Able to work in Algebra 2 and the metric system
Able to use the scientific method
Able to complete accurate and precise work in a timely manner
Able to function in a laboratory and production setting
Able to work without direction in “Office” programs especially document creation, spreadsheets and e-mail
Must occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
May be required to wear personal protective equipment
Must be able to understand, speak, reach, and write in English in order to perform the essential functions of the job as they relate to comprehension of laws, regulations, standards, documents and other internal and external communications
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from QA Supervisor, other internal departments and Customers
Ability to exchange information with others clearly and concisely; to present ideas, facts, and technical information
Knowledge of Advanced Manufacturing and Design for Manufacturing processes preferred
Regularly subject to normal office or laboratory environment.
Occasionally subject to normal warehouse and production environment.
Occasionally subject to high noise levels where hearing protection is required and all personnel protective equipment is required.
Occasionally subject to atmospheric conditions, such as fumes, odors, powders, dust and other particles.
