ASRC Federal Holding Company Senior Project Engineer in Ogden, Utah

Position : Senior Project Engineer

Location : Ogden, UT

ASRC Federal Space and Defense is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (GN&C) to support the GBSD contract at Hill AFB in Ogden, UT.

Description:

AS&D requires a senior guidance, navigation, and controls (GN&C) engineer to support the Lead Development Test Organization on the Ground Based Strategic Defense (GBSD) Program. The work would include supporting independent verification and validation (IV&V) efforts; test and evaluation of guidance and control systems, models, and tools; as well as performance and accuracy analysis.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform IV&V of boost and post-boost propulsion systems for GBSD including integration of 3DOF/6DOF aero models, linear stability analysis, navigation error and accuracy analysis

  • Update guidance and control models and tools as well as introduce process improvements

  • Assess vehicle and mission performance and trajectory requirements for adequacy and consistency

  • Perform hazards flydown analysis and interact with range safety to satisfy range hazards concerns

  • Oversee and mentor junior GN&C engineers in the performance of GBSD program requirements and other tasks

  • Work with propulsion, structures, software, and other disciplines to satisfy IV&V requirements, prepare flight test recommendation, perform day-of-test analysis, and deliver post-flight reporting

Requirements:

  • Proficient with simulation tools used for GN&C and trajectory analysis (Matlab, Simulink)

  • Proficient in programming languages and scripts used in model and tool development (C, C++, Python)

  • Experience working in a team environment

  • Good written and spoken communication including developing technical documentation

Education/Experience:

  • 8 or more years of experience in GN&C, hazards, and trajectory analysis including 3DOF and 6DOF aerodynamic models, closed loop guidance, linear stability analysis, Monte Carlo simulation, and accuracy

  • Experience with multi-state launch vehicles for target and space launch applications including modeling of pneumatic and hydraulic actuated systems, staging recovery and air-launched vehicles, and open loop control

  • Knowledge of Earth gravitational and atmospheric models

  • BS in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent). MS preferred.

Clearance:

  • DOD Secret Clearance required, TS preferred

  • BS in Aerospace, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, MS preferred

  • DOD Secret Clearance required, TS preferred
