Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking a Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) SEI Director to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.
The selected candidate will lead a highly dynamic, engineering team in the execution of systems engineering and integration for the GBSD EMD contract execution.
In this role, the Director will be responsible for the following:
Lead the SEI team and provide strategic and tactical direction to the systems engineering team responsible for EMD contract execution. Execute Systems Engineering processes and approaches leveraging modern Model Based tools to support the USGs objective of "Owning the Technical Baseline" and developing an affordable, sustainable Weapon System.
Partner with the Air Force customer to ensure that the Weapon System requirements are met through the analysis of the Critical Designs of the flight, ground, training and support segments and ultimately the verification of all Weapon System requirements. Support the component, unit and other lower level risk reduction and design maturation activities that will support CDR analyses and Verification.
Provide program wide Systems Engineering leadership, partnering with flight, ground, training and support segment Systems Engineering teams to ensure a consistent implementation and execution of the requirements, processes, tools and products. Partner with the GBSD Chief Engineer to ensure overall Weapon System design integrity satisfies USG Weapon System requirements.
Establish SE training guidelines and timelines, performance reviews and mentorship for skills development career growth
Candidates must have exceptional leadership and teambuilding skills, strategic thinking, strong technical acumen, and the ability to lead the systems engineering discipline across the program.
Bachelor's of Science Degree in engineering or a STEM discipline and 12 years of experience, supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries; or a Master's of Science Degree in engineering or a STEM discipline and 10 years' experience supporting U.S. Government contracts and customers and/or project management in other industries
5 years of experience leading the performance of tasks on schedule, at cost and achieving all requirements as either project lead, integrated program team or cost account manager
Minimum 3 years of demonstrated success leading teams/and or organizations to achieve a common goal
Experience with flight and ground systems development, including systems architecture definition, requirements allocation, element integration, risk management, and verification and test planning
Active Top Secret Clearance, with an in-scope SSBI in the last 6 years
Active in-scope SCI Clearance
Previous experience leading systems engineering activities through CDR and System Verification is highly desirable.
Experience with model-based system engineering methods is preferred.
Experience with missile systems or similar systems with complex mission and flight and ground systems element requirements decomposition is desirable.
Masters degree in a STEM discipline
