Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an Associate Guidance, Navigation and Control Engineer to join the Flight Systems Team as a GN&C Algorithm Development Engineer. This position is located in Roy, UT and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Learn more about the GBSD program here .
What You'll Get To Do:
The successful candidate will join our team of qualified, diverse individuals that continue to mature the Guidance System's ground and flight software algorithm design from Preliminary Design phase to a Critical Design Review and beyond. The role includes performing algorithm trades and modeling, simulation, and analysis of the flight vehicle to mature the algorithms to meet all system performance requirements. The individual will be responsible for all aspects of performance, including embedded system performance and management of throughput margins and establishing key functional interfaces with the flight software. The individual will also manage the maturation of the algorithms' internal and external interfaces to data sources required to calibrate, align, and fly the vehicle. The individual must be capable of performing within a team in a highly dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities. This position reports directly to the GN&C Analysis and Algorithms Lead and receives direct tasking from the GN&C Algorithms and Software Development Lead.

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
•Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) with specific coursework relevant to control systems development and analysis
•Coursework and/or general knowledge of aerospace vehicle control systems
•Coursework and/or experience developing and utilizing time-domain simulations to predict performance
•Simulation and/or GN&C law development experience using C++ and/or Mathlink/Simulink
•Active DoD Secret clearance granted within last 6 years
•Knowledge of launch vehicle and/or strategic missile guidance, navigation, and control principles from guidance system turn-on, ground operations, through launch and payload insertion
•Experience and familiarity with high accuracy inertial measurement system algorithm design, including calibration and alignment principles and Kalman filtering
•Extensive knowledge of C++ and Object Oriented Programming
•Working knowledge of Object Oriented Programming principles
•Experience working in an Agile team or even leading a scrum team
•Experience and knowledge in principles of Model Based System Engineering (MBSE)
•Understanding of flight critical software development, including DO-178C compliance
