Job Description: Description – Manufacturing Engineer

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements and analyzes manufacturing engineering plans and projects and communicates them to internal and external customers. Defines, develops and transfers manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies and systems. Develops manufacturing strategies for specific products and processes. Actively participates with engineering project teams in order to coordinate the release of new products. Estimates and tracks manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines. Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluates manufacturing processes; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials; conferring with vendors as needed; soliciting observations from operators.

• Develops manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors.

• Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.

• Assures product and process quality

• Prepares product and process reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.

• Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests.

• Maintains product and company reputation by complying with government regulations.

• Completes design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.

• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.


  • Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through higher education. Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering or Physics and 0 to 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/ Associate’s Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

  • Experience with government or customer furnished equipment

  • Basic electronics knowledge

  • Experience with reading and understanding Engineering specifications and mechanical drawings

  • Understanding of manufacturing methods and procedures

  • Experience evaluating manufacturing quality

  • Product development experience

  • Experience dealing with complex products

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Effective communication skills to expeditiously coordinate efforts through all phases of the manufacturing process.

  • Ability to prioritize work, be flexible and productive with little supervision.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability to lift 40lbs

  • Must be willing to work overtime/shift work, weekends, and holidays (as required)

  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance.
