BIOFIRE DIAGNOSTICS, LLC Automation Engineer II/III - Machine in SALT LAKE CITY, Utah

Description BioFire Diagnostics, LLC. is looking to add anAutomation Engineer II/III - Machine Vision to our growing team! This Engineer specifies, develops, and tests vision detection and inspection systems for automated and manual manufacturing processes. They will also assist in designing robotic systems actively driven by vision tools. This individual is expected to work and communicate well with other team members and leadership of the team to which he/she is assigned in order to meet the goals of the project. Principal Job Duties and Responsibilities: * Develops and maintains vision applications used to inspect parts and control robots for both automated and manual manufacturing equipment.* Design experiments that tune vision tools to accept or reject parts based on Biofire's product specifications.* Writes design documentation, test cases, engineering investigation reports, change orders, and other documents associated with the development process.* Uses engineering concepts, company SOPs/WIDs, department SOPs/WIDs to solve a variety of difficult engineering problems across functional groups and disciplines.* Works on problems of moderate scope and complexity. Generally works on a team with other engineers.* Receives some oversight from a Senior or Principal Engineer. Eligible to be a discipline lead on a project. May provide mentoring for other engineers.* Interfaces with program management, project management, engineers, manufacturing line personnel, quality assurance, and others in the development of vision inspection tools.* Works and communicates well with other team members, leadership to which he/she is assigned as well as company management in order to meet the goals of the project.* Follows company policy, SPOs, WIDs, and cGMP and ISO 13485 guidelines and requirements.* Reports to the project and program management on all tasks and timelines.Minimum Qualifications Training and Education:Requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering Experience: 4 years of experience with machine vision applications creating robust systems used to locate, identify, measure and inspect objects Experience creating, and maintaining, vision systems that perform Quality Inspection calls. Vision integration with robotic control (desired) Preferred experience with the following: * Clear plastic vision applications* Film inspection Skills: * Cognex machine vision software; Cognex In-Sight, VisionPro, Designer, ViDi* Specifying and optimizing components of a vision system including; lighting, lenses, cameras, vision processing, communication* Working knowledge of C# / .NET or VB / .NET* Industrial PLC (Rockwell Control Logix) (preferred) Please be advised that the receipt of satisfactory responses to reference requests and the provision of satisfactory proof of an applicant's identity and legal authorization to work in the United States are required of all new hires.
