Applied Materials, Inc. has an opening in Salt Lake City, UT for a Customer Engineer (#P1494). Perform tool startups from installation through standard process qualifications, including customer specific process qualifications with assistance. Plan and complete all levels of preventative and corrective maintenance within timelines. Troubleshoot key technical issues at the component level. Diagnose and recommend solutions for complex system downs. Use process data to diagnose hardware problems. Resolve sustaining process issues on tools. Troubleshoot key technical issues at the component level. Use routine process data and on site data logging function to diagnose system downs. Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues. Resolve sustaining process issues with assistance or with characterized tools. Perform complex retrofits. Organize and lead retrofit activities. Identify and correct procedural issues and solve problems for customers. Create methodologies and procedures as well as participate in patent processes-discussions. Anticipate and respond to fab issues including communication with customer engineers in other locations. Drive corrective processes through key stakeholders (product business group, customer specification owners, engineering change order owners, and global product support, etc.), or escalate as appropriate. Communicate findings to others and provide suggestions to improve checklists and procedures. Participate in customer meetings and escalations. Assist management in operation of site service business. Assist management in operation of site service business. Assist Applied Materials field management in establishing and achieving objectives for assigned accounts. Initiate projects to drive down costs or increase uptime. Provide technical guidance to less experienced customer engineers on complex system problems including sustaining process issues. Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of system. Follow all checklists and procedures, including safety. May require up to 20% domestic and international travel. Requirements: Position requires Associate's degree or foreign equivalent in Materials Science, Processing and Control Engineering or a related field, plus 5 years of experience in job offered or a related occupation. Knowledge of and-or experience with (can be gained through education and-or experience): complex electronic and mechanical schematics; troubleshooting on LK Prime; troubleshoot component level; pneumatics; physical and general chemistry relating to chemical mechanical polishing (CMP) process and hardware troubleshooting; and LK reflection. *The skills, knowledge and-or experience listed here need not be maintained over the full term of experience noted above.*
