At Rio Tinto, it begins with you. We are looking for aPrincipal Advisor - Closure Planning and Growth Permitting. The role will maintain the current closure plan, guide the operation on informed decision making with respect to closure and promote closure initiatives and goals. Additionally, this role is responsible for developing permitting strategies and supporting submissions to enable future mine life extensions. Reporting to the General Manager, Projects and Engineering and working in a collaborative community within the Projects and Engineering Department. The key accountabilities will fluctuate based upon the business and study demands; including: * Manage the Closure PFS interim activities program which includes continued data collection (i.e. test plots) and execution of scope identified in PFS to be completed prior to the next phase of closure study (i.e. waste rock drilling) for the various study disciplines in order to best inform the next phase of closure study. Includes the coordination and direction (scope, budget, schedule, and quality of deliverables) of consultants, contractors and RTK staff, to deliver the interim activities. Also includes interface with RT globally and industry to learn, develop and apply best practice back to RTK. * As study knowledge evolves, capture the knowledge and feed it back to the operation (and future study phases) to continuously improve performance of concurrent activities and diminish closure liabilities. * Assure RTK operations implements relevant Closure PFS knowledge into evaluations undertaken during the continuation of mining by coordinating closely with the RTK operations, communities, legal, rehabilitation projects and the environmental team. * Maintain the RTK closure readiness plan through consultation with relevant RTK operational managers and RT Closure and support closure readiness development with other RT operations. * Permitting lead accountable for North Pushback growth study regulatory permitting. Obtain permits to support the next phase of open pit mining, ore processing and tailings placement.
