Site Reliability Engineer

AdvancedMD, a Global Payments Company, located in South Jordan, UT is looking for Site Reliability Engineers (SRE) to join our growing ITSecOps department. In AdvancedMD’s DevSecOps culture, the SRE team is responsible for availability, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning. Our SRE team creates a bridge between development and operations by applying a software engineering mindset to system administration topics. By splitting our time between operations/on-call duties and system/process automation we consistently increase the reliability and performance of AdvancedMD’s cloud applications.
Ensure proper monitoring and alerting of our production and development environments using tools like AppDynamics, Nagios, Splunk, and CloudWatch
Work in collaboration with the Product, Engineering, NOC, and Infrastructure teams to find and tackle issues to ultimately improve the stability and performance of our applications
Create self-service tools in AWS to help our 24x7 NOC and Development teams
Identify bottlenecks, configuration changes, SQL queries, etc. that jeopardize the reliability of our platform
Work with the Product and Engineering teams through our Operational Readiness process to create and monitor application SLOs and SLIs
Participate in Change Management and Incident Review meetings
Deliver automation to prevent problem recurrence and automate response to all non-exceptional service conditions
Continually evaluate and adopt the latest industry technologies to optimize costs and streamline processes
Adhere to good development practices: documentation/SOPs, code standards, code/design reviews, optimization, and maintainability
Help to develop and foster a positive, healthy, and collaborative culture for the SRE organization that embodies both industry best practices as well as AdvancedMD values
Support services before they go live through activities like system design consulting, developing software platforms and frameworks, capacity planning, and operational readiness reviews
Participate in an after-hours on call rotation
Bachelor’s degree and/or 3+ years working in highly regulated environments in a technical role
Understand the operational challenges of running services at scale and commit to addressing those challenges with automation instead of sustained human toil
SQL server experience (MSSQL, MySQL, Postgres, AWS RDS Aurora)
3+ years of hands-on experience with Windows Server and/or MSSQL Server
Experience working with source-controlled repos like Github, AzureDevOps/TFS, and CodeCommit
Operational knowledge of Linux (CentOS, Ubuntu)
Experience with one or more: PowerShell, Python, C#, Bash
Hands on experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) especially EC2, RDS, Route53, S3, ECS, IAM, CloudFront, FSx, Systems Manager, Lambda, and VPC
Experience with configuration management tools like Consul and Vault
Experience with monitoring/APM/log aggregation systems like Nagios, AppDynamics, and Splunk
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) systems like HashiCorp’s Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Ansible
Understanding of container and orchestration technologies (kubernetes)
Familiar with Jira for work management and Confluence as a documentation solution
Hands on experience with building fault-tolerant distributed systems at scale
Has or is working towards achieving the AWS Cloud Practitioner and AWS Solutions Architect Associate certifications
Maintains a good understanding of modern, cloud centric architectures and DevOps principles, and prefers working in an agile team model
