Job Description: The Capacity Planner interfaces with multiple departments and organizations, and is primarily responsible for ensuring project deliverables are completed on schedule. A successful candidate should be able to demonstrate:
Expert communication – Must be able to communicate production schedule and throughput variances with responsible stakeholders to determine mitigation plan and duration. Will need to communicate significant variances and recovery plans with management.
Technological proficiency – Should be comfortable learning ERP commands, desktop applications, analytical tools and metrics to perform job functions
Project Management – Requires familiarity with basic project management principles such as planning, variance analysis, mitigation planning, risk analysis, and stakeholder communication
Leadership – Will be called upon to act a lead in assigned area to understand, represent and coordinate between multiple needs and objectives. Will be accountable for ensuring execution of mitigation plans are achieved.
Responsible for creating work cell production plans in a highly variable Engineer to Order/Make to Order environment, identifying variances to plan, coordinating between stakeholders, mitigating variances and communicating revised plans to stakeholders and management.
Responsible to evaluate all production order activities for assigned manufacturing work cells.
Manages work cell schedules by creating short, medium and long term production plans utilizing MRP demands, forecasts, product yield analysis and historical unplanned work trends.
Capacity Planners will coordinate between multiple individual program requirements to optimize both program performance and factory throughput, utilization and efficiency.
Must be able to effectively evaluate inconsistent production demand levels to determine the need for increased throughput or utilization concerns. This position will then work closely with manufacturing, test, inspection, production planners, and OPMs to determine optimal short and medium term plans. Must be able to identify, communicate and coordinate mitigation efforts on issues that drive production backlog in assigned work centers.
Regular analysis and metric monitoring will assist with planning and communication.
Individuals must be comfortable with analysis, project management principles and communication at all levels of the organization.
Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate's Degree and a minimum of 6 years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0-2 years of prior related experience.
PMP or APICS certifications desirable
Experience in project or program execution techniques preferred
Experienced user of ERP systems, various computer systems and standard MS Office tools is preferred
Preferred Additional Skills:
Due to the nature of the work, this position may require the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance
Position may require the ability to move 50 pounds
This position requires perspective candidate to work a 9/80 schedule with the ability to flex overtime, weekend, holiday and/or second shift work
